Learning to meditate
The best way to start is to start. It doesn’t need to be complicated or mystical. I have learned a lot from meditation, especially the Thai Forest tradition, while also learning not to get stuck on one technique or teacher.
A simple beginning
Find a quiet place. Sit comfortably. Notice your breathing and the sensations in the body. When the mind wanders, notice that, without making it a problem. Start with a few minutes, then adjust.
Meditation is not a test of endurance or a replacement for psychological or medical care. If a practice increases distress, it is reasonable to stop or adapt it.
